Tybro strikes Gold and Silver with Stiff Wheels
The owner of Stiff Wheels Brent Lakatos is an accomplished wheelchair racer in the T53 classification. He has represented Cananda in 6 paralympic games, more recently at the 2024 Paralympics he won Gold in the men’s T53 800 metres which was his thirteenth medal with taking him overall to two golds, nine silver, two bronze during his sixth Paralympic games appearance.
Brent knows exactly what it takes to win and wanted to produce his own brand of wheel hubs for him and his fellow athletes, so he created a design and came to Tybro to help turn his idea into a reality.
Developing our first product has been a challenge and learning experience. Providing elite athletes with the equipment they need is a huge challenge as our hub and wheel must work exceptionally in all cases. Working with Tybro has been an essential part of successful the development our product. Tybro has been able to combine the technical expertise we needed through our iterative development process, as well as the practical design and manufacturing combination that has been essential.
I’m proud to say that our hub is now performing to the highest standards, multiple athletes and I were able to use our wheel hubs to compete and win gold and silver medals in the Paris 2024 Paralympics.
